I swear, every time I come back, something happens and delays the process.
You people will not even believe the things that happen to me, I swear.
On Thursday night, I was sitting on the couch with some stomach pains. It began getting progressively worse, and since there were no urgent cares open (it was 8:30), my mom decided to take me to the hospital to get it checked out.
We didn't actually get in until around 9:30, but my stomach was killing me. They put me on a bed and had me answer all those questions and whatnot. The doctors said it was probably a UTI or something, which would be easy to treat.
Well, they checked me and found no trace of infection, so they thought maybe it might be kidney stones or something. They run in the family, and oh god, I did not want those at all.
Lucky me, I didn't have kidney stones either, but they couldn't figure out what was wrong. So, they did a white blood cell count, which involved drawing blood. I was not very fond of that, considering the fact that I had never had blood drawn before. They said my white blood cell count was 16,000, which is pretty high. They decided to put an IV in to give me some meds (also a first) as they tried to figure out what was wrong. I had a cat scan, and then I had to wait about an hour for the results of that.
And look at that, an hour later they're telling me I have appendicitis.
They wanted to talk to a surgeon, and god was I going through pain, so they had a nurse come to give me morphine. His name was Rob, and he seemed pretty nice. When I took the morphine, holy fuck it was awful. I could hardly breathe and I was gasping for air. He said he would go slow, since I had to take four milligrams or something. But he talked about bands with me the whole time, which was nice.
At 4:30, they were sending me in for surgery and I was freaking out. I had never had surgery before, and I was really scared. When they pushed me into the surgery room, The Beatles' Dig a Pony was playing on the radio, and I sang until I passed out.
Then I was in the hospital about all day Friday, and today I've just been at home.
I'm doing okay, but moving around and being comfortable are just about impossible.
But yeah, that happened.
So hopefully I will feel better soon and be back back, finally. For god sakes, you guys.
