It was finally the end of the school day. You wanted to talk to Dave about what he had said during gym class to ask him if it was actually true. You thought that since he was cool, he was messing with your head or something. You hoped to gog that it was real though.
Karkat had said he would meet you out front on the stone steps. You sat on them, waiting patiently. Something in your head told you to just leave him and meet up with him at home, but you knew he would be mad if you did that, so you just sat and waited. You always wondered why it took Karkat so long at the end of each day. You figured he was just having some kind of anger fit about his locker getting jammed or something. That was what usually kept him.
You heard footsteps coming towards you. You jumped off the step immediately. “Karky, what took you so-“ You stopped, seeing that it wasn’t your brother standing before you.
It was Vriska and her gang of gruesome high bloods.
You weren’t sure whether to scream, or run, or fight back – oh who were you kidding, you couldn’t fight against them! The high bloods usually cheated in fights, bringing more than just weapons, but things like knives and hatchets. You were alone; neither your brother nor your bodyguard was there to help you. Where was Dave anyways? You hadn’t seen him since gym. He obviously wasn’t being a very good bodyguard.
“A little birdy told me that some [h/c] bitch was flirting with my guy, and look who it was.” Vriska smirked at you, holding her hands in strong shaped fists.
You blinked. You hadn’t thought about it, but you did recognize a few of the high bloods as people from your gym class. You mentally cursed at yourself, but managed to keep a strong looking face. “I wasn’t flirting with him. I had just told him what you had said earlier, and he told me that you guys weren’t dating.”
“Well, of course he did!” Vriska cackled, which made you cringe. “He didn’t want to the school to think I was some kind of attention seeking whore if he loved me, did he?”
“But you are,” You muttered under your breath. Unfortunately, you said it a little too loud.
Vriska stomped on closer to you. “I’m trying as hard as I can not to swing my fist into your fucking cheek bone right now, okay?”
“Do it, I really could care less anymore.” You said shrugging. However, the shakiness of your voice and the chattering of your teeth proved otherwise. Vriska cackled again and shooed her crew of high bloods onto you.
This is it. You thought. I'll probably be dead by the end of this.
As the high bloods came towards you, you tried to dodge them, but there were just too many. You found it a nearly impossible task. Two of them quickly grabbed your arms to hold you still as the others ran up to you, beating you up like some kind of human punching bag. You received many kicks in the stomach, not to mention the horrible punches in the face.
You couldn’t feel your face, it was so numb. You could, however, taste the fountain of blood swishing around in your mouth. It tasted horrible. Every time you tried to just spit it out, you would get it again and end up swallowing it. It made you want to barf, along with the fact that the horrible kicks in the stomach weren’t helping.
Soon enough, you were losing your line of sight. You couldn’t really tell what was happening anymore. It felt sort of like you were on some kind of mechanical bull ride that continued to buck you around and around. You eyelids drooped which meant you were about to faint. The last thing you saw was a flash of red and blonde behind what looked like Vriska, and then you were dropped on the cement sidewalk.
~
You barely opened your eyes when you felt your body being shook harshly.
“[Name], are you okay? Dammit [Name], why won’t you answer me? I need to know if you’re okay!” You opened your eyes a little wider to see the face of Dave Strider. Oh, so now he was there.
“D-Dave… I-I…” You couldn’t even choke out a few words. You could taste dry blood in your mouth and feel the gash on your bottom lip. You assumed that Vriska and the gang had beaten you up pretty hard. You felt so stupid, just letting them get you like that. You barely even put up a fight! You didn’t want to be week.
Your thoughts were interrupted when you were pulled into possibly the most loving hug you had ever been pulled into. Dave squeezed you tightly, rubbing your back – which you also assumed was covered in bruises.
“[Name], thank god you’re okay! You’re supposed to call me when you need help, not after you’re fucking dead!” Dave was going into some type of random hysteria.
You coughed. “I-I’m sorry…” You whispered, trying to hug him back. You could barely lift up your arms, but his arms around you felt amazing, as if you were floating on air. You wished you could stay like that for as long as life would let you.
Of course, life didn’t let you two hug for very long, as Dave pushed away sort of suddenly. “Hey, sorry for not being there. I was caught up in something stupid with your assfuck brother and I didn’t think you would be in trouble for just a few minutes.”
“I-It’s okay…” You croaked out. You cleared your throat hoping it would make you feel a little better. It did, actually. Dave stared at you for awhile – at least you thought he was staring – and you stared right back.
“Even if you weren’t here, you’re still the best bodyguard.” You tried your best to smile at him without contorting your face into something extremely gross. “You’re a really good friend, too.”
For a minute, Dave looked kind of surprised. Soon enough, he smiled back at you. Then, without even thinking, you began to lean in towards him. You didn’t even know what was happening until you actually felt his lips on your own. You heart nearly beat out of your bruised chest as you kissed him. His lips tasted like juicy apples, which made you hold an urge to nibble them a bit. Obviously Dave was thinking the same thing to because the kiss began to reach a heated level.
“FUCKING HELL! WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING?!” Karkat’s voice made both of you jump apart immediately. You and Dave exchanged a long stare before you were yanked off of the cement.
“Dave Strider, don’t you ever touch my sister with your grossly disfigured lips ever again!” Karkat growled as he dragged you along the sidewalk. “You’re no longer her useless bodyguard!” Dave watched as he walked with you farther and farther away.
“That’s okay, Karky,” You said, making sure it was loud enough for Dave to hear. “He can just be my boyfriend instead.” You swear you could see Dave smirk as he waved at you from afar.
“OVER MY DEAD BLOODSTAINED CORPSE!”
…That can be arranged dear brother~!
