Literature Text

The next day, Dirk Strider got up earlier than usual. He woke up around 7:00 a.m., three hours before he would usually arise, and took a nice, hot shower. He wanted to make himself look presentable because he now knew that there were pretty cute girls waiting for him at the cafe.

He obviously wasn’t talking about [Name], though. He couldn’t just think about one girl. That wouldn’t be cool.

Dirk examined himself in the mirror as he had every morning. He made sure his hair was nice, his shirt collar was straight, and his shades were clean and free of any possible fingerprint marks. Maybe he was showing off a bit more than usual. He did want to look nice, considering the fact that he wanted [Name] to believe the compliments he gave her and actually join deviantArt.

Yet again, it wasn’t because he wanted to talk to her. It was just for the sake of commissions.

“What the hell are you doing?” Dave asked as he peeked inside the bathroom.

“What do you mean?” Dirk asked. “I’m just trying to make myself look as cool and ironic as ever.”

Dave shook his head. “Dude, it’s almost eight. Since when have you ever gotten up early? Everyday I have to drag you out of bed just so you can take me to work, and even then, it’s almost impossible.”

Dirk rolled his eyes, deciding to just ignore his brother’s comments. It’s not like Dave was in the situation anyways, or at least he wouldn’t be until [Name] went around talking about him or something. It made him chuckle just thinking about it.

“Thank you for not listening,” Dave muttered under his breath as he headed off to get ready for work.

As Dave began to say his goodbyes to Dirk for the day, Dirk got out of the car with him. He sighed.

“Lemme guess; you’re going inside to see the waitress again, right?”

Dirk gently patted his brother’s head. “Oh Dave, I can’t wait until you become a hot stud like me and begin to show off your abilities to the world.”

“Hey, I’m already a stud!” Dave protested. “I’m just not a whore, like you.”

Dirk blinked. He crossed his arms and shook his head, obviously showing that he was ashamed of his little brother. “Oh, you do not want to play that game with me, little bro. That isn’t a road you ever want to go down...” He then held the door open for his brother and shooed him behind the counter to get to work.

Dirk took the same seat he had taken the day before at the counter. He figured that [Name] would be his waitress again if he sat in the same place, since most waiters and waitresses were assigned to a certain section of tables. So, he tapped his fingers on the counter as he patiently waited for [Name].

“Excuse me, sir? What would you like?”

Dirk was about to give his classic smile to [Name], but when he looked up, he realized it wasn’t her. It was someone else; a girl with long, black hair and big, green eyes. She almost looked like...

“Hey, you’re Dave’s little girlfriend, aren’t you?” Dirk asked the waitress.

She blushed. “Oh, um... yeah!” She giggled, “And you’re Dave’s older brother.”

Dirk nodded. “Yeah, of course... so, could you tell me where [Name] is? I talked to her yesterday and came in to tell her something.”

“Oh, [Name]? She doesn’t come in until later today. You could come in later and talk to her?”

Dirk thought for a moment. He didn’t want to seem like a complete creep, coming in twice in a row. That would be way too uncool for his taste. However, he did want to tell [Name] something and he certainly didn’t want to wait.

“If I write a little note, do you think you could give it to her?” Dirk asked the girl.

She smiled. “Of course, that’s fine.”

Dirk pulled a trashed piece of paper in his pocket and took the girl’s pen for a moment to write. He wanted to keep the note short, simple, and to the point without adding all kinds of fluff. She might think that he was weird if he put in too much fluff.

It was all he could think of:

'Dear [Name],

This is the guy who complimented on your Naruto drawing yesterday. I know this is kind of weird since I’ve only ever spoken to you once, but I came in to talk to you today and you weren’t here. I just wanted to say that since your drawing was pretty awesome that you should join deviantArt. If you don’t know what it is, it’s this really cool website where you post your drawings and writing or whatever. I figured that since you’re a waitress, you don’t make a lot of money, so maybe if you did commissions, you could definitely make more money. That’s what I do. I hope I could help and maybe I’ll see you around.

-The King of Irony, Dirk Strider'
Okay, I'm sorry it took awhile, but I finally completed Chapter Three.
I know this story is kind of crappy and random, but it's mostly because this isn't what I'm mainly working on. It would probably be a little better if I wasn't bombarding myself with so much stuff at the moment, but you guys seem to like it, so I think I'm okay.
Hope you're enjoying this so far! c:

Wait..... shouldn't Dirk be the prince of Irony?
