Kid!Prussia x Mother!Reader - Eat Your Supper

“Oh, Gilbert! Supper is ready!”

“Coming, mother!” Gilbert shouted back. He headed through the hallway and downstairs to the dining room, where you had dinner sitting on the table. His plate was already covered in mounds of food, just the way he liked it.

Gilbert took a seat at the table, making sure to scootch his chair in just the right amount. You sat down next to him and immediately began digging into the food on your plate. It seemed to be pretty delicious, so Gilbert grabbed his fork and was ready to dig in as well.

Then, he examined the plate a little closer.

“Mom!” He whined, “Why did you cook brussel sprouts?’

You popped one in your mouth. “Brussel sprouts are good for you, and they taste great.”
Gilbert crossed his arms. “Mother, they taste absolutely terrible.”

“They are delicious,” You protested. You took his fork and stabbed a brussel sprout, then handing it back to him. “Eat them, okay? If you do, I’ll make sure to give you an extra special treat after supper.”

Gilbert eyed the brussel sprout as if he and the vegetable were having some sort of stare down. He gulped. “Okay, fine...” He closed his eyes and shoved the fork in his mouth.

The taste was unbearable.

“Verdammt ekelhaft!” Gilbert spat, the brussel sprout going everywhere. “That was terrible!”

“Gilbert Beilschmidt!” You scolded him, “You know better than to say dirty words like that!”

He looked down at his plate, a frown on his face. “Sorry...”

“Now, you eat your brussel sprouts or you’re not getting dessert.”

Gilbert whined, “But mother! Someone as awesome as me shouldn’t have to eat dumb, old brussel sprouts.”

“I am your mother, so I can boss you around, Mr. Awesome, as much as I please.”

Gilbert rolled his eyes, knowing he would not get out of this. He decided to leave the brussel sprouts for last and ate his chicken first. He loved chicken and thought that maybe he would be able to stand those damned vegetables if he ate something delicious first. The chicken was gone in a minute or so, leaving him with another brussel sprout stare down.

As you finished the remainder of your own food, Gilbert still contemplated how he would finish his own. Maybe I could just eat them really fast, He thought to himself, That’s what I’ll do! I’ll eat the brussel sprouts as fast as I can! Hölle, I am a genius.

Gilbert readied his fork, counted down in his head, and began shoving the brussel sprouts in his mouth. One after another, they were each swallowed into the gaping hole. Soon enough, his plate was wiped clean. “That was disgusting...”

You giggled and kissed his cheek. “Good boy, Gilbert.”

“Do I get my treat now?” He immediately asked.

You nodded. “Of course. You know I always keep my promises.” You arose from your seat and headed into the kitchen to grab the dessert. Gilbert licked his lips and patiently awaited your return.

You walked back into the room, your hands behind your back. Then, you revealed your right hand and showed you were holding a Chip’s Ahoy! cookie. You sat it down in front of him with a smile.

Gilbert’s eye twitched. “I just ate all those brussel sprouts... for a little cookie?! Was zum Teufel?!”

“Gilbert Beilschmidt! What did I say?”
